Mariana's old main street, home to several buildings of historical interest, including the Minas Gerais architecture ensemble.

This is the old main street of Mariana, called ria direita as in Ouro Preto. Several buildings of historical interest are worth a visit, in what is the oldest architectural complex in Minas Gerais. The 19th century colonial house at number 102 houses the Music Museum. At number 54, the Barão de Pontal's house stands proudly with its finely chiselled soapstone balconies. The house of the symbolist poet Alfonsus de Guimarães, now a small museum, is also located at number 35.
