The Pampulha casino complex has been transformed into a museum with a collection of nearly 1,500 works.

This is Niemeyer's first project for the Pampulha complex. It first functioned as a casino and then was transformed into a museum in 1957. The façade is largely inspired by Le Corbusier and his functionalist principles, while the interior is more of an interpretation of the baroque mineiro. The gardens of Burle Marx exhibit sculptures by José Pedrosa and Ceschiatti. The museum has a collection of nearly 1,500 works but only a few are on display.
