Born in 1849, Rui Barbosa, a Bahian of Bahian origin, served as a jurisconsult, journalist, politician and diplomat, and was involved in some of the founding events in the history of Brazil. Built in 1849, the house that houses the museum, in which Rui Barbosa lived for the last 28 years, is a superb example of 19th-century Carioca architecture with neoclassical influence. The museum exhibits an important collection of furniture, various objects, paintings and a sumptuous period library. Beautiful park of the museum.
