Churrascaria Carretao is an institution for meat lovers. The best quality/price ratio of all the churrascarias in the Zona Sul. We serve you at the table until you are hungry. The meats are varied and excellent, the buffet includes a wide selection of salads, sushi, smoked salmon and trout. It's very good, not too expensive and popular. Children under 5 years old pay nothing and those under 10 years old pay half price. The desserts (which look good) are on the other hand paying and less cheap.

Marius Degustare is a restaurant not to be missed in this wonderful city. It's a far cry from the sleek design of the Lasai and its almost surgical cuisine. Here, in a decor that gives the impression of entering a pirate's lair, the restaurant offers a gargantuan buffet featuring noble products, especially seafood such as lobster, oysters, crab? The service is top-of-the-range and rich in colour. It's quite simple, the Marius is unanimously acclaimed. Of course the note is salty too...

The Majorica is a very 1960s address, with a decoration so kitsch that it almost becomes chic! Once you set the tone, it's easy to see why the restaurant has been around for decades. The menu is classic and of high quality. The Majorica offers excellent meats on the menu ( picanha lovers will appreciate the local picanha, which is excellent!) and a grilled sausage to ask for as an aperitif. The fish and seafood with notably several cod recipes (bacalhau). Well stocked wine list. A classic.

A place not to be missed on Lapa nights. The Nova Capela is an institution of the district and a symbol of its rebirth. This tavern, more than a hundred years old, is a popular meeting place for musicians, artists and journalists. Its style is so old school that, for many, it becomes deliciously trendy. It offers iced beers, snacks and a very relaxed atmosphere. You can also taste meats that are rarely found in Rio, such as goat or wild boar! A classic of the neighborhood's gastronomic scene.

Satyricon is considered the temple of fish lovers in Rio. Without a doubt, it is the best place to enjoy Mediterranean sea food. You can enjoy prawns, oysters, scampi, lobsters, with a little Italian touch (the seafood pasta is a must try). The misto de crustáceos, a selection of the best seafood, allows you to appreciate the diversity of the offer. The atmosphere is subdued, the service is refined, and everything is there to spend a pleasant moment with your partner. There is an annex of the satyricon in Buzios.

The Rio Minho is a river that originates in Portugal and flows into the ocean in Spain. As you can see, this restaurant is inspired by Portuguese and Spanish cuisine. It is an excellent fish restaurant, open since 1884, which makes it the oldest restaurant in the city of Rio still in "activity" and a meeting place for some personalities, such as the Baron of Rio Branco! To try: the leão velloso soup, a tropical adaptation of our bouillabaisse!

A sure bet in Santa Teresa. A stone's throw from the largo de Guimaraes, near the tracks of the famous yellow "bondinho", the Sobrenatural is a pleasant fish restaurant: everything is good, in a very pleasant "marine" decor. For starters, try the delicious casquinhas de siris, excellent and aromatic. You can also try pasteis de caranguejo and delicious moquequas, including cod and coconut milk. Musicians frequently perform at ao vivo in the evenings. The only complaint is that the bill is a little too steep.

Between bar and restaurant, we really don't go for the decor. The address goes from mouth to mouth, and is already well known because you often have to queue on Saturdays. Fifteen options and three sizes: 1 200 g (4 people), 600 g (2 people) and 300 g (individual). A suggestion of Prussian filet with cheese, garlic, fried onions, eggs, rice and black beans is proposed. The best place to eat meat in the neighborhood watching the TV, with a volume often so low that you will not have a problem.

As the name suggests, Giuseppe Grill is dedicated to meat. For many Cariocas and gastronomic guides, this establishment is one of the best meat restaurants in Rio, coming straight from Argentina, a guarantee of quality if ever there was one. The setting is warm and the décor features works by contemporary Carioca painters, all of them representing... a bull. Of course! The maminha is tender and tasty. The wine list is varied and good, especially for the wines... Argentine. Seafood too.

One of the main interests of the restaurant La Plancha, one of the best fish restaurants in Rio, is its location in the heart of the Mercado do Produtor, the largest fish market in the city. This guarantees the freshness of the products that are served. At the buffet, you will find grilled fish and seafood (lobsters, shrimps...), which can be shared with others. The service is well trained and professional. Not top for a plan in love: the place is vast (250 seats) and too noisy!

Another little place to discover in the charming district of Santa Teresa. This canteen doesn't look like much, but it offers excellent (and copious!) dishes of various meats, churrasco of course, picanhas, ribeye, chops... the choice is vast. Everything is often accompanied by chips, rice and black beans (feijão). A good option for a typical weekday lunch. Ah yes, you will have understood, we are here in gaucha land, far from the new cuisine. One dish can easily satisfy two people, so let's hear it...
