This colourful market has become quite touristy, but it's a dive into a world of fruit, vegetables and small earthy items. It is said that the chefs buy there. You can also have a quick lunch there. Be careful, there is the Mercado de Surquillo n° 1 and n° 2. The n°1 is stuck to Miraflores, at the intersection of Via Expresa (Paseo de la Republica) and Narciso de la Colina. The new Surquillo neighborhood is much more popular and hectic, but there are also good places to eat like La Picanteria (picanteriasdelperu.com).
