The mosque of Tsingoni is well worth a detour, it is the oldest mosque on the island, dating from at least 1538. Classified as a historical monument since 2015, the building is still used and well preserved. Its minaret reminds us that Tsingoni was the capital of the Shirazian sultanate in the 16th century, whose influence radiated over the entire Comoros archipelago. The mosque has become a sacred place for the inhabitants because it houses three tombs that would preserve the remains of Sultan Haïssa, known as "the first Arab", his wife and his daughter.
