In life as well as hiking, you must be able to take up the height to see things under a new perspective. The cone of Mount Choungui is located near 600 metres above sea level and offers a breathtaking panorama of Mayotte. Overlooking the island and the forest, the sight is breathtaking. The lagoon reveals its turquoise lines that you would like to see from the beach, and the islands are moving on the horizon, reminding you of the vastness of the Ocean. The two hours of walking and the stiffness of the slope are generously rewarded.

Difficulty: medium; walk only during the dry season.

Panorama exceptionnel depuis le sommet du mont Choungi
Randonnée à faire absolument, pour profiter d un magnifique panorama à 360 degrés. Très beaux points de vue sur la baie de Chirongui, l ilot de sable blanc et la barrière de corail. Par beau temps on peut apercevoir aussi la petite terre et les autres sommets de l île. La randonnée n est pas très longue (environ 2h aller/retour) mais la fin est très raide et il faut se tenir aux racines des arbres pour grimper les derniers mètres. Je conseille aussi de faire cette rando pour observer le lever de soleil.

Super site que l'on peut découvrir juste en faisant l'ascension du mont, ou en rando d'une douzaine de kilomètres au départ du village de Mronabéja (prévoir alors environ 3h30). Point de vue exceptionnel.
