The result of the excavations of the necropolis of Monterozzi in a museum of Palazzo Vitelleschi in Tarquinia.
Located in the 15th century Palazzo Vitelleschi, the museum concentrates the results of the excavations of the necropolis of Monterozzi. Sarcophagi and other funerary objects are displayed alongside reconstructions of tombs. The museum's main exhibits remain the two winged horses (I Cavalli Alati) made of terracotta from the 4th century BC and Mithra Tauroctone, a statue from the second half of the 2nd century representing Mithra, headless and without hands, killing a bull.
