Villa in Rome, home to the French Embassy to the Holy See, with a long history.
Built by order of the Cardinal of Mantua, Secretary of State to Pope Benedict XIV, in 1750, Villa Bonaparte was bought by the Sciarra Colonna family on the Cardinal's death, and then by Napoleon's sister, Pauline Bonaparte, in 1816. She was responsible for the restoration work that gave the Villa its current appearance. Since 1950, the Villa Bonaparte has been home to the French Embassy to the Holy See. Guided tours are available to discover the majesty of the Villa.
