A sports center with stadiums, including one surrounded by remarkable statues, in Rome.
The Foro Italico is a large sports centre created during the fascist regime. The project was entrusted to Enrico Del Debbio in the late 1920s. It was only completed in 1960, the year of the Olympic Games in Rome. In front of the entrance to the Olympic stadium stands a marble monolith with the inscription "Mussolini Dux", created in 1932 by Constantino Constantini. It includes several buildings, including the Olympic Stadium and the Marble Stadium, surrounded by 60 colossal statues of athletes in white Carrara marble donated by the Italian provinces.
