A major exhibition that travels through the career and life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo (1907-1954), a symbol of artistic exuberance and Mexican culture in the 20th century. More than 160 works, including paintings and drawings. The exhibition brings together thoughtful masterpieces from the largest public and private collections in Mexico, Europe and the United States. More than forty extraordinary portraits and self-portraits, including the famous Self-portrait with a necklace of thorns, never before exhibited in Italy, and the Self-portrait with a velvet dress, his first self-portrait, made at the age of 19 for the beloved Alejandro Gomez Arias with the intention of winning him back. The project is complemented by a selection of drawings, including the pencilsketch for the Henry Ford Hospital and the famous plaster corset that Frida had to wear for many months after her accident; a unique piece that was thought to have been lost until recently.
