The fort of São João Baptista was built in the port of Porto Moniz in 1730 to combat pirate incursions; at the end of the 19th century it was negotiated in the public square and only ruins remained. These were bought by the city in 1998, which reproduced it identically according to an existing iconography. Since 2005, the interior has housed an aquarium that is only worth a visit, unfortunately a quick enough visit to observe the forty or so species represented. The entrance is indeed not given and we'll go around it very quickly...

Originality
This aquarium is not really worth trying to visit, it especially has nothing extraordinary for 7€. Outside it seems rather large and interesting but once inside. One has just the right to admire a grand aquarium with various fish... and it is all. 10 Minutes tower is made. We were disappointed.
