KAZAFANI MOSQUE

In the center of Kazafani, Atatürk Square is dominated by this pretty little mosque (Ozanköy Cami), from which the "crusaders' path" leads to Bellapaïs Abbey. Dating from the ^17th century, it is one of the oldest in the eastern Kyrenia region. The interior, once richly decorated, has been completely whitewashed and is not necessarily worth a visit. But the courtyard on the street houses two finely carved and engraved tombs, those of the donors who financed the mosque's construction, Altunizade Ismail Ağa and Mesut Hasbi Efendi.
