Former home of writer Lawrence Durrell, who wrote his most famous novel about Cyprus, (1957) here.
From 1953 to 1956, Lawrence Durrell (1912-1990) lived here and wrote his most famous literary work about Cyprus: Bitter Lemons of Cyprus. In this autobiographical novel, published in 1957, the British travel writer devotes a chapter to the hilarious story of the purchase of this large beige building with brown doors, erected in 1893. It was for sale when we last visited. We don't know whether the new owner will continue to offer the free morning tour in September only.
