Located on the border between the Machairas and Pytsilia regions, this national park covers 4,523 ha. Almost uninhabited and entirely covered with forests, it attracts many Cypriots from Nicosia and Limassol for family outings. Main place of visit: the monastery dedicated to the Virgin (Panagia tou Machairas). This pleasant site is the centre of a great religious festival celebrated on August 15, with a traditional fair. The three villages in the park (Gourri, Lazanias and Fikardo) have a total population of less than 300 people.Let's go. No direct bus from Nicosia, you have to take a connection in the village of Arediou to get to Gourri, Fikardo or Lazania (the nearest village) at 4,5 km.
