This Greek Orthodox monastery (Ιερά Μονή Παναγίας Αμασγούς/Iera Moni Panagias Amasgous) lies in a beautiful natural setting, near the village of Monagri/Μονάγρι (approx. 160 inhabitants). Founded in the 12th century, it boasts a pretty little church adorned with frescoes from the 12th, 13th and 16th centuries. The family restaurant offers delicious traditional food, really tasty. The atmosphere really good, the restaurant has its soul, you kinda feel like you are at home, as some family photos of owners hang here and there. Really nice traditional Cyprus tavern experience: food, surroundings, decor, owners, service.

The restaurant was empty when we arrived around 6.30pm. We were the only customers for the rest of our meal. We don’t understand why because the restaurant was cozy and the staff was great.

The food portions were good. The taste was delicious. As usual in Cyprus, the meat was over cooked but still has flavour and good.
