SKI COMPETITION

Every year, the Cyprus Ski Federation (Ομοσπονδία Χιονοδρόμων Κύπρου/Omospondia Chionodromon Kyprou, Cyprus Ski Federation & Club) organizes alpine skiing and snowboarding events on the Zeus piste at the country's only ski resort, Troodos, on Mount Olympus (1,951 m above sea level). The standard isn't always very high (Cyprus hasn't won an Olympic medal since it first took part in the Winter Games in 1980), but the spectacle remains astonishing on this Near Eastern island renowned for its sunshine.
