The "sickle" cape marks the end of the northern coast of Paphos. After plantations of banana and orange trees, we finally discover a relatively unspoilt coastline: a little greenery, a small fishing port where you can swim, beautiful rocks, an idyllic restaurant and the islet of Geronissos 300 m from the shore. Cape Drepanon appears to have been settled very early on. During the Roman and Byzantine periods, it was a port of call for ships carrying Egyptian grain. It was also an important Christian pilgrimage site, linked to the cult of Saint George. An archaeological site groups together several remains (three early Christian basilicas and a necropolis) between the cape itself and the hamlet of Agios Georgios. Unfortunately, the surrounding area has now been concreted over with hotels and villas for rent. To the east, the small forest of Meletis still stands. To the north lies the wild Bay of Lara, which can be explored on foot or by 4 x 4 to reach the Akamas peninsula and its national park.
