KIWIRAIL - TRANZALPINE

The TranzAlpine line runs between Christchurch and Greymouth through the Southern Alps, the Canterbury Plains, the Waimakariri River and Arthurs Pass. The journey ends by crossing the lush rainforest just before Greymouth, an ideal base for visiting the Punakaiki area. The cars are modern and comfortable, with air conditioning and panoramic windows to take full advantage of the view. At the rear, there's an even larger observation area for photos.
