EDWIN FOX MARITIME CENTRE

This is one of the must-sees in Picton: the wreck of the Edwin Fox, built in Bengal in 1853 for theEast India Company. This double-decker, which weighed 836 tons and was 160 feet long and 30 feet wide, arrived in New Zealand in 1873. It is difficult to imagine the conditions under which its cargo of 259 immigrants travelled during the months of the crossing between England and New Zealand... You should not miss the museum exhibition upstairs!
