WHAKATĀNE MUSEUM - TE WHARE TAONGA Ō TAKETAKE

The Whakatane District Museum reveals more about history and heritage from the earliest Polynesian inhabitants to the arrival of Europeans. The displays and exhibits are informative and well-documented. There's also an art gallery and archives. The museum is divided into several sites: Te Whare Taonga ō Taketake (museum and research center) and Te Kōputu a te whanga a Toi (library and exhibition center).
