A huge, picturesque camel market open every Monday and Thursday morning, making for an excellent getaway.
On Monday and Thursday mornings (in theory) there's a huge camel (dromedary) market, extremely picturesque and not at all touristy. This is an excellent opportunity to plan a half-day trip from Harar (1 hour, 30 birr by minibus), or to hire a 4 x 4 to get here and visit the other points of interest in the region. Be sure to check the market before you go, as there may be variations, and it would be a shame to drive so far for nothing.
