A large, interesting church with beautiful recent murals and finely sculpted ceilings.
A very interesting, easily accessible church. The vast interior (16 m x 13 m) features recent wall paintings and finely sculpted ceilings. Local tradition dates its excavation to the time of the brother kings Ezena and Sézana in the 4th century. Damage, such as fire and the destruction of a pillar, is thought to have been caused by Ahmed the Left-Handed. The church is said to hold the prayer cross of Frumentius (Abba Salama), the first bishop of the Ethiopian Church. It houses three tabots and is the site of a pilgrimage on October 14.

Des fresques très belles et un lieu de pèlerinage très fréquenté. Le 14 octobre la foule des fidèles est impressionnante.... et la queue pour le bus risque de vous prendre 3 ou 4 heures.
One of the most interesting in the Striped: if you only visit one interior, it is that you must choose: fascinating frescoes, all the walls are covered with it.
