This new establishment on the heights of Wukro is really the best, most comfortable option in the whole region, for visiting the churches around this town, but also towards Atsbi, and for setting off on expeditions towards the Danakil, as the new road starts here. Mulugeta, who speaks French, is also the owner of Smiling Ethiopia Travel & Tours and can arrange these excursions directly with 4 x 4s and guides on site. Wukro Lodge starts with an impressive lobby, like a beautiful crenellated stone castle. It offers pretty, comfortable, traditional rooms in stone buildings on two levels, surrounded by vegetation of eucalyptus and cactus, each with mosquito net and terrace, decorative objects and rough wooden furniture giving character and charm to the place, stylish bathrooms with hot water. The restaurant is also Wukro's most famous, at the very top of the estate with a view of the hills. It offers both Ethiopian and international dishes, including excellent salads, which are rare in the area.
