Petit Futé's opinion on ARAT KILO
At the centre of the square is the monument of 28 Megabit (Ethiopian calendar) commemorating Addis Ababa liberation on April 28, 1941. The obelisk is crowned with the lion of Judah, himself dominating a clock whose needles are arrested on the number 11, time of liberation of the capital.
In the vicinity, the Faculty of Sciences houses the Natural History Museum, featuring a beautiful collection of birds. A little higher on Avenue du Roi-Georges, on the right of the avenue next to Mariam church, rises the comfortable palace of the Patriarch of the Ethiopian Church. A little further, and on the same side, facing the Faculty of Technology, is the National Museum.
