Only a point of interest in the Suvalkija area, near the town of Alytus, this reserve, founded in 1937 around Lake Žuvintas (980 ha), houses more than 580 plant species and 253 species of birds (silent swans, herons, wild geese…). It is one of the country's most important ornithological sites. Beavers, otters and targets also populate the reserve.
