GREEN BRIDGE (ŽALIASIS TILTAS)

This 103-meter long bridge housed the last four large statues from the Soviet era. They represented agriculture, industry and construction, peace and youth. Although the people of Vilnius fought to keep them after independence, they were removed from the bridge by order of the mayor for "security reasons". The bridge was then declassified as a historical monument, thus lifting the protection of the statues, which were destroyed.
