CHURCH HILL (BAZNĪCU KALNS)

On the hill of Daugavpils there are four churches of four different denominations.

For the record, the Martin Lutheran church dates from 1892-1893. In 1941, its spire burned down during the war and was rebuilt a little later. The German-Baltic population, who used to come here, left the church and in the 1950s it was converted into a warehouse downstairs and a boxing club upstairs. In 1991, the church was once again used as a Lutheran place of worship.
