COLUMNS
A superb white colonnaded house, this twenty-room bar and hotel was built in 1883. It is now classified as a Historic Monument (the rooms and bedding have certainly not changed since then). A word of advice, don't stay in this hotel, but go ahead and have a drink. In the 1970s, Louis Malle transformed the place into a famous brothel for his film Pretty Baby with Brooke Shields. After climbing his steps, passing his porch and pushing the door, you are greeted by a long corridor and an imposing mahogany staircase. On the right, a cosy bar with Victorian retro furniture is perfect to start or end the evening. The porch is an ideal place to have a drink and watch what's happening on St Charles (but don't forget your mosquito bomb). Almost every night, a band comes to play.
