NKOKONJERU

The plateau at the top of Wanale Ridge, where the Nkokonjeru peaks (2,348 metres), seems impregnable. However, a breach allows a serpentine road to link Mbale to the heights (approximately 12 kilometres and 600 metres of positive height difference from the town centre). To enjoy the views from the ridge, you can opt for the (rare) minibuses that climb the slopes of Wanale Ridge, the ascent - on foot or by bicycle - following the road axis, or the ascent via a steep footpath (ask the UWA staff for more information).
