The Upper Nile Valley has been one of East Africa's major tourist attractions for the past two decades. The reason? The rapids of the mighty river! Since the mid-1990s, white-water sports have been developed, first and foremost rafting. Specialized companies then built their launch pad on the right bank of the Nile, downstream of the Owen Falls Dam, on a section rich in waves and eddies. However, the inauguration of the Bujagali Dam, slightly downstream of the base camps, led to the disappearance - by flooding - of several rapids and the creation of a peaceful reservoir in early 2010. Since then, rafting and kayaking professionals have had to transport their clients downstream of this dam so that they can begin their aquatic adventure. The construction of a new hydroelectric dam (Isimba Dam), 35 km downstream of Bujagali Dam, was seen, when it began in 2015, as the final blow to the popularity of water sports. But the completion of the dam, four years later, which certainly made the famous rapids, islands and riparian lands disappear, was not the swan song of rafting since the dam has not altered the main level 5 spots. So the big thrill remains! In addition to these river activities, a visit to the banks of the Nile - on foot, by bike or on horseback - is also to be considered as well as one or more nights in one of the beautiful lodges scattered here and there on the Nile banks
