Less than a kilometre and a half as the crow flies from the Mpanga Forest Ecotourism Site, the small village of Mpambire, crossed by the Kampala-Masaka road, specialises in the making of traditional Bugandais drums. Count from 40 000 to 300 000 Ush for an instrument depending on its size. You can see the craftsmen at work. In addition to the drums and their membranes made of varan, cow or goat skin, other musical instruments, such as the xylophone or theendingidi (a single-stringed violin with a resonance chamber made of wood or bovine horn), are on display in the stalls along the sides of the national road
