Charming hotel with comfortable rooms and a restaurant, the best in Fort Portal, a good address.

The Dutchess is not only the best table in Fort Portal. It is also a charming hotel with five rooms: three colourful, comfortable and fully equipped "luxury" rooms, one "semi-luxury" room with a "small corner" but sharing the shower with the single room (which has no WC). The Dutchess is owned by two friendly Dutchmen, Michel and Heleen, as indicated by the hoof-shaped key rings, the tulip-shaped toilet seats and the windmills lining the walls of the bathrooms. The food was the best I had in fortportal. They have continental dishes and really quite upscale (for Fortportal standards). I strongly recommend it. My daughters liked Piza and the complimentary wine????

I ended up here after walking away from a bad situation and I needed a place to get my head together. I initially arrived for one night and ended up staying four! I stayed one night in Kibale, a double room which was lovely and then moved to a suite for 3 nights. The hot water was wonderful, everything was clean, and comfortable. Staff were just lovely! Owner Helen and her husband were really friendly even though busy. Food is amazing. Chocolate Mousse (thank you Helen) was just the best. The ice cream was the best I have had after 20 years in Africa!!! The chef makes mean poached eggs too. Just go, it's perfect, it's a lovely place to be, everything is there a few minutes away, the bank, supermarkets and everything you need. The four season pizza was really good too. Just so many good things to say about this place and nothing negative at all!!!!
