Entebbe, a town on the tranquil shores of Lake Victoria, is home to the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Managed by the NGO Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust (Chimpanzee Trust), the sanctuary is home to 52 orphaned and rescued chimpanzees. The Chimpanzee Trust is strongly committed to on-the-ground conservation and community education, working closely with the Ugandan government and wildlife authorities.
