RUBAGA CATHEDRAL
The Catholic Cathedral of Santa María de Rubaga, built in brick, stands on the top of a hill. Consecrated on December 31, 1925, on a site that had already housed six successive churches since 1891, the building stands out for its façade where busts of the White Fathers are installed on consoles. Inside, stained glass windows representing the martyrs of Uganda, paintings to the glory of the missionaries and relics of Joseph Kiwanuka (1899-1966), the first Catholic bishop of sub-Saharan Africa, are some of the attractions of the cathedral.
