St. Paul's Cathedral, as we know it today, was completed in 1919. However, four cathedrals had succeeded one another since 1890 on the hill of Namirembe before the present one came into being. But they suffered many setbacks (fire, roof destroyed by a storm...) which led to a procession of destruction, rebuilding and repairs for almost three decades. Nowadays, the church comes alive on weekends, especially during weddings when the women dress up in their most beautiful and colourful attire.
