The Fairway is one of the oldest hotels in the capital, having opened its doors in 1969. It is a fairly classic establishment, a white building with a view of the golf course or the vegetation of the inner courtyards. The rooms, bright and functional, are lined up in a motel style. The hotel is especially appreciated for its many services including access to a gym and a swimming pool. There is a cocktail bar (The Professor), two restaurants (the Tree Top and the Asian Fusion), a few shops and two spas. Excellent location.

OUR STORY
The story of how it all began
ONCE A FAMILY HOME
Our story begins in a humble family home in Nakasero that has been owned by the Jaffer family since 1927. Little did they know that in 1969, a move by the Vatican would transform their home into a modest hotel to accommodate the Pope's delegation on its first-ever visit to Uganda.
A HOTEL IS BORN
The Fairway Hotel was born in 1969 as one of Uganda's first hotels, and was officially opened in February 1971 by His Highness the Aga Khan with 50 operational rooms.
SHAPING THE MINDS OF TOMORROW
Shortly thereafter, in 1972, during the Idi Amin regime, the Fairway Hotel was taken over by the government during the Ugandan economic war to become a military base. Later, it was transformed into the country's first hotel and tourism training institute from 1989 to 1991.
BACK TO THE HOTEL
The Jaffer family's return to Uganda in 1990 saw the hotel evolve into a 100-room boutique hotel with conference facilities, fine dining, swimming pools and beautiful gardens. Many of the decisions that shaped our country were made on this very site.
TODAY AND BEYOND
