A ceramic sculpture representing the bust of Célia Sánchez (1920-1980), adorned with a dove (peace) and a sunflower (light), installed on the 137th step of a staircase overlooking a panoramic view of the city. A native of the region and initiator of the 26th of July movement in the province, taking part in guerrilla warfare in the Sierra Maestra, she became Fidel Castro's closest collaborator. A museum is also dedicated to her at her birthplace in Media Luna (50 km to the south).
