PLAZA DE LA REVOLUCIÓN CALIXTO GARCIA

Inaugurated on July 26, 1979, this square is one of the first public tributes to this general who participated in three wars of independence. Recently and beautifully restored, Plaza Calixto Garcia has become a popular gathering place, especially on May^1st for Labor Day. Note the mausoleum of General Calixto Garcia and the small bronze monument erected in memory of his mother, Lucia Iñiguez. It is particularly lively on Saturday nights.
