Inaugurated on December 28, 1988, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the battle of Santa Clara, it is the only museum dedicated to Che. Photos, objects, documents and videos evoke his life from his birth to his death. His remains and those of seven companions assassinated in Bolivia on the orders of the United States, were transferred there in 1997, for the 30th anniversary of their death. In the memorial, we can see the coffins of Che and all his companions. It is rather sober but moving.

Lieu consacré au Ché. Bâtiment massif et grande place pour les commémorations. C'est un incontournable de Santa Clara, mais cela reste un musée à la gloire d'un homme. Pas interactif du tout.

Le mausolée de Santa Clara
Ce mausolée, placé sous surveillance militaire, est imposant par sa taille. La visite est possible et gratuite, même si les sacs sont interdits. Le moment peut-être le plus intense est celui du passage dans l’endroit où reposent le Ché et ses compagnons. On y observera l’étoile qui illumine la stèle portant le nom du révolutionnaire. Le musée donne des informations complètes sur sa vie et le combat qu’il a mené. Reproduite in extenso sur un mur extérieur, la lettre qu’il a écrite à Fidel Castro. Enfin, sa statue en tenue de combat domine l’ensemble.
