The royal authorization for the construction was granted in 1754, but the work was not finally completed until the 19th century. The building is delightful, with its interior frescoes and its small garden protected by a wrought iron gate. The church has three naves, each ending in a chapel. The dome is decorated with frescoes by masters, all restored in 1963. Because of its decoration, this church is often compared to the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome.
