From the Greco-Roman Arra, whose prosperity was linked to that of the Belus massif, there are only a few remains of re-use in monuments of the Islamic era whose city is rich.A terrible episode of the first crusade took place here. After a three-week siege, the city was finally abducted by the crusaders en route to Jerusalem, and its inhabitants massacred. But when Christmas approached, there was nothing to eat. The little people of the crusade "eating eating a large number of Cadavres's corpses already tout, and who had stayed two weeks and even more in the ditches of the city." This is how Raimond d'Aguilers, the Count of the Count of Toulouse, describes the scenes of cannibalism that deeply outraged the minds of both sides. Taken back by the Zengides in 1135, the city passed successively in the hands of the Ayyoubides in Aleppo, then Des settled in Hama, before being integrated into the Ottoman Empire.
