NATURAL MONUMENT OF THE DUNES OF ARTOLA

This is the remnant of an ancient area on the coast of Malaga that formed a 20 km dune cord. In this place, three types of dunes can still be distinguished: those on the front line of the beach and present ripples; the further moving dunes inside and covered with vegetation; Immobiles dunes, with many pines. Because of the sun and little wind and water in the dunes, there are unique plant species. Nearby, we will notice the Torre de los Ladrones - «tour des Voleurs» - a military architecture declared a cultural interest. The tower is of Roman origin but was then rebuilt by Arabs and Christians.
