Perfect Service in the Philatelic bureau by Mr. Ramkissoon.
The philatelic bureau is inside the Mauritius Postal Museum building.
Another friend from Vienna has similar experience.

Loved the history. My great great grandfather left Mauritius in 1868. So I found it extremely interesting. Interesting.

I actually enjoyed my visit there a lot. 150Rs per person to enter, which is alright. I learned a lot and the building is pretty. At the end, there is a (small) stamp collection for those who like that.

The Mauritius Postal Museum is a fascinating museum located in the capital city of Port Louis. The museum is dedicated to the history of postal services in Mauritius and showcases the evolution of the postal system in the country.

The museum has an extensive collection of stamps, postcards, and other philatelic items, including the famous Blue Mauritius stamps. These stamps are rare and highly valued by collectors worldwide, and the museum has an impressive collection of them on display.

Apart from the stamp collection, the museum also houses several exhibits showcasing the evolution of postal services in Mauritius. Visitors can see old postal equipment, including mailboxes, stamping machines, and postmen uniforms. There is also a collection of old photographs and documents that provide a glimpse into the past and how the postal system played a vital role in the country's development.

One of the museum's highlights is the replica of an old postal coach, which was used in the early days to transport mail from one town to another. Visitors can get on board the coach and experience what it was like to travel in those times.

The museum also has a gift shop where visitors can purchase postcards, stamps, and other souvenirs. There is also a cafe on the premises where visitors can relax and enjoy a snack or a cup of coffee.

Overall, the Mauritius Postal Museum is an excellent destination for anyone interested in history or philately. It's a unique and educational experience that provides a glimpse into the country's past and the role that the postal system played in it.

For the 500MARupee entrance we expected to see a few stamps a be on our way, but was pleasantly surprised. There is a detailed, bilingual, exhibition telling the history of the postal service and how it developed, along with the railway and air services.additionally, a section is dedicated to the local romantic story of Paul et Virginie.

Great museum situation inside the post office. A 10 minute walk from Waterfront. Entrance fee application, not expensive consessions for seniors see pictures. Doesn't take too long to walk around. Interesting history about sending mail. Wasn't busy only me and hubby. Great visit if you want to get out of the sun and heat. Highly recommended

We visited three times, and it was closed every time, despite the times on the website saying it'd be open. On the first visit, it was closed for lunch. On the second visit, they were open but would not let us enter because it was too close to closing time. On the third visit, the door was locked tight, despite the website saing it should be open.

Même si vous ne voulez pas visiter le métier, il faut rentrer dans le bâtiment afin de voir la boutique du musée. Cette dernière comporte quelques beaux articles à prix doux.

The museum is in the old building of the stations on Toilet face. You will find the door of the post on the right if you want to buy stamps and on the left the museum entrance. The history is well explained there.
