MARINA BAY SANDS
Three towers topped by a platform as big as the Eiffel Tower - a vertiginous sight!
Inaugurated in 2010, Marina Bay Sands has redefined the face of Singapore. A pharaonic project imagined by architect Moshe Safdie, this architecturally audacious complex embodies the city-state's ambition to combine luxury, modernity and innovation. Three 55-storey towers form the backbone of the hotel, linked at the top by a monumental ship-shaped platform. This technical feat, perched 200 metres high, houses the Sands SkyPark: a suspended oasis with gardens, panoramic bar, sandy beach and, above all, one of the world's most spectacular infinity pools. At 150 metres long, it seems to melt into the horizon. Reserved for hotel guests, it's a dream come true for many more than just those who visit. Fortunately, the SkyPark Observation Deck is accessible to all, offering a breathtaking 360° view.
The Marina Bay Sands also houses a gigantic convention center for up to 45,000 people, a 15,000 m² casino with a touch of glitz, and two state-of-the-art theaters. The casino, comparable to those in Las Vegas, boasts hundreds of gaming tables, state-of-the-art slot machines and VIP lounges. Even non-gamblers will be dazzled by the brilliance of its immense crystal chandelier.
At the foot of the towers, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands brings together some 300 boutiques and international labels. The place has become a temple to high-end shopping, where couture houses, jewellers and exclusive brands cohabit. Among these is a spectacular Vuitton boutique, housed in a glass pavilion on the water, accessible via a footbridge. A second pavilion houses a futuristic Apple boutique, entirely glazed and circular in design.
On the restaurant front, there's a plethora of offerings ranging from revisited street food to Michelin-starred gastronomy. Several top chefs have taken up residence here, and the complex's rooftops are home to lively bars at dusk. The atmosphere is festive and elegant, with Singapore as a backdrop.
The surrounding area has been transformed into a showcase for the Singapore of the future. Bayfront promenades, boldly designed pedestrian walkways, free nightly sound and light shows: everything has been designed to offer visitors an immersive experience, combining technology, culture and relaxation. Today, Marina Bay is a living space in its own right, where amazed tourists, local families, morning joggers and photographers in search of the perfect shot meet.
