Built in 1855, it is one of Singapore's oldest Hindu temples. Dedicated to Vishnu, it attracts large numbers of devotees, particularly during the Thaipusam festival. A temple of intense activity, it is distinguished by its colorful 22-m gopuram, representing the nine reincarnations of the god. The starting point for the Thaipusam procession: devotees prepare with great fervor, piercing each other's faces and bodies before walking in a trance to Tank Road. An astonishing experience.
