CHESED-EL SYNAGOGUE
Listed as a national monument, the imposing Chesed-El synagogue is one of the most beautiful in Asia. Built in 1905 by Sir Manasseh Meyer, a wealthy Jewish businessman and patron of the arts, it features an elegant neo-classical style. Deeply committed to education, he financed schools and universities, and in 1922 supported Albert Einstein's project for the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Ennobled in 1929, he left this still-active place of worship as his legacy. Restored in 2016, the synagogue bears witness to Jewish history in Singapore.
