Butterworth is a multi-modal platform located across the mainland from Georgetown. There is a bus station, a train station and the ferry terminal all in one place. From Butterworth, you can reach all over Peninsular Malaysia as far as Singapore. On arrival in Butterworth, just follow the pictograms that guide you to the ferry. This one leaves every 20 minutes or so between 5:20 and 12:10. When you get to Georgetown, you have the local bus terminal and a taxi stand. Very practical and well done.
