It seems that it is the crater of an ancient volcano. It is said that there are still lagoons undiscovered, or only known by the communities living in the heights. Of the two lagoons accessible from the airport, only the "laguna grande" is open to the public; the "laguna chica" belongs to the private domain of Finca Janson. It takes about 2 hours to walk from the entrance. It is possible to reach it by 4x4 when the rains are not too heavy. There is a picnic area, a camping area and a fishing area
