Markala, located 40 km from Segou is a nice small town built entirely in a flat. The road between Segou and Markala, which runs through beautiful forests of mango and rôniers (kind of palm trees) is really beautiful. The mango trees, many in the city, offer healing areas shaded. In Markala, the Office of Niger built a dam, completed in 1947, 2 600 m long.The area is also known for its large crocodiles population. You may have the chance to see it in the channels, along the road.
